Light Diffusion Fabrics

Texlon has manufactured grid cloth for more than 50 years in Torrance, California. These are very durable fabrics with a built-in rip-stop yarn, yet they are extremely light weight.

Grid Cloth

Grid cloth is used to diffuse light. Diffusion spreads / smooths the projected beam of light over the subject. The greater the diffusion, the greater and more even the resultant spread of light. Shadows are reduced.

Grid Cloth is made in three weights:

  1. Full Grid
  2. Half Grid(Light)
  3. Quarter Grid
Texlon grid cloths are finished in both softer “Quiet” (Silent) and crispier “Regular” (Noisy) finishes. The “Quiet” (Silent) finish is ideal for outdoor filming where wind might create sound issues. The “Regular” (Noisy) finish will lay up flatter.

Texlon grid cloths are generally finished to 60” widths. But 54” is also common. Typical roll lengths are 100 yards, but custom lengths are also common.

Bobbinette

  1. In Stock
  2. Low Price
  3. Made with Durable Nylon
  4. Fire Retardant
  5. Available in 75" and 150" widths
Texlon’s bobbinette is manufactured in the USA. The fabric has a traditional hex-shaped opening and is fire retardant (FR).

Bobbinette is used to create depth and give a soft & hazy look to images. It is often used to reduce glare and increase contrast.

Bobbinette reduces light. A single layer reduces transmitted light ±1/2 stop. Bobinette can be doubled and even tripled for further transmission reduction. Bobinette is available in color black.

While traditional bobbinettes are imported and made from cotton, Texlon’s is made of nylon. The nylon is more durable than cotton and will not snag and tear as easily. Because of this, the market is starting to call this fabric “Duranette”.

And the pricing is very competitive. Texlon stocks the bobbinette in 75” and 150” widths in Torrance, CA. Please call us for pricing and availability. For small orders, we will refer you to one of our distributors.
